Vitamin B12 deficiency can generally cause severe and irreparable injury, especially to the brain and nervous system. At stages only vaguely lower than common, a variety of symptoms such as fatigue, hopelessness, and poor memory may be qualified. However, these indications by themselves aren’t too specific to establish deficiency of the vitamin.

It can also source symptoms of mania and psychosis. It can be caused by the metabolic disorder pernicious anemia.
